The Senate Speaker, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, received in audience the Russian Ambassador to Burundi, Valery Mikhaylov, on Tuesday December 01, 2020.

The latter was carrying a congratulatory message from the Duma (Legislative Assembly of Russia) to Burundi Senate Speaker for his new duties.

His visit was also part of the strengthening of cooperation relations between the Duma and Burundi Senate.

Valery Mikhaylov recalled that Russia supports Burundi in the fields of education, agriculture, livestock, and many others.

In addition, Ambassador Mikhaylov also indicated that his country has always stood alongside Burundi in the United Nations Security Council.

On his part, Right Honorable Sinzohagera, congratulated the Russian Ambassador too, as he is new in this post.

The Speaker of the Upper House of the Burundi Parliament wished the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries would be extended to other areas such as trade, electrical energy, disaster prevention, etc.

He also wished relations between the Senate and the Duma could be characterized by the experience sharing, notably through visits by members of those two institutions.
